At RWK Kitchens & Joinery, our connection to the natural world runs deep. Based on the Cornish coast, we see first-hand how vital a healthy ecosystem is — and bees are at the heart of it. Here's why we care, and what we're doing about it.
Why Bees Matter
Bees are responsible for pollinating around a third of the food we eat. Without them, our ecosystems — and our food supply — would collapse. Yet bee populations across the UK are under serious threat from habitat loss, pesticides, and climate change.
Cornwall's Natural Heritage
Cornwall is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, from coastal seabirds to ancient woodland species. It's a landscape worth protecting — and one that inspires everything we do in the workshop. When you're surrounded by that kind of natural beauty, you can't help but want to preserve it.
What We're Doing
We believe small actions add up. In and around our workshop we're committed to:
- Planting wildflowers and bee-friendly plants to support local pollinators
- Minimising chemical use in our finishing processes where possible
- Sourcing timber responsibly to protect woodland habitats
- Reducing waste so less ends up in landfill
Furniture That Gives Back
Every piece we make is built to last — which means fewer trees felled, less waste, and less demand on the planet's resources. Choosing bespoke over disposable is, in its own way, an act of environmental care.
Support Britain's Bees
Want to do your bit for Britain's bees? Here are three brilliant organisations you can support:

- 🐝 Bumblebee Conservation Trust — Sponsor a bumblebee at bumblebeeconservation.org
- 🐝 Friends of the Earth — Join the Bee Cause at friendsoftheearth.uk
We're proud to be a business that cares about more than the bottom line. If you share our values, we'd love to work with you — get in touch and let's build something that lasts.
